The historic city of St. Albans in southern Hertfordshire lies approximately 22 miles (35 km) north of central London. The cities market town, Roman cathedral, parks, excellent schools and 20 minute train link into central London make it a popular choice for both families and commuters.
Originally known as the Roman city of Verulamium, St. Albans was the first major town on the old Roman road of Watling Street for travellers heading north from London. It got its modern name from Saint Alban, the British Christian martyr, who was beheaded!

St. Albans is ideally located for easy access to the M25, M1 and A1 motorways. It has two train stations; the First Capital Connect providing a regular 20 minute service into Kings Cross St. Pancras and the Abbey Flyer linking St. Albans to Watford Central.
St. Albans Cathedral was used as a substitute for Westminster Abbey in the film Johnny English starring Rowan Atkinson.
